Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Overview

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of Nepal’s most popular short treks, offering stunning panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges within a relatively easy and accessible itinerary. Ideal for beginners and those with limited time, this trek combines beautiful rhododendron forests, traditional Gurung and Magar villages, and breathtaking sunrise vistas from the iconic Poon Hill (3,210 meters).

Starting from the gateway town of Pokhara, the trail winds through lush valleys, terraced fields, and charming villages like Ghorepani and Tikhedhunga. Along the way, trekkers enjoy warm local hospitality, vibrant culture, and varied landscapes, including rhododendron forests that burst into color in spring. The highlight of the trek is the early morning hike to Poon Hill, where you can witness a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayan giants — Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Dhaulagiri.

The trek typically lasts 4 to 6 days, making it a manageable yet fulfilling adventure for all ages and fitness levels. It is well-supported with teahouses providing comfortable lodging and delicious local meals. Aside from the natural beauty, trekkers can immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the indigenous communities, exploring their traditional lifestyles, festivals, and crafts.

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek offers a perfect blend of moderate trekking challenge, awe-inspiring mountain views, and rich cultural experiences. Whether you’re a first-time trekker or looking for a refreshing Himalayan escape, this trek delivers unforgettable memories of Nepal’s majestic landscapes.
